Daniel Chinagozi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innovation Growth Hub (IGHub), marked his 41st birthday on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, with an evening of hymns and worship in Umuahia, Abia State.
The event, themed “Evening of Hymns & Worship,” was held at Queen Elizabeth Chapel, Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia. It brought together government officials, founders, and other members of the digital technology ecosystem to celebrate Chinagozi and share in the occasion.
A defining feature of the celebration was the singing of 41 hymns, marking each year of his life through an evening dedicated to worship and thanksgiving.
Beyond the music, the gathering brought together people from different parts of the technology and business community. Their presence reflected the relationships Chinagozi has built through years of working with entrepreneurs, innovators, young people, and institutions across the region.
A Birthday Celebration Against the Background of Ecosystem Building
Chinagozi is widely associated with the development of technology and entrepreneurship support in Abia through his leadership at IGHub, an innovation centre headquartered in Aba.
Under his leadership, IGHub has worked to equip young people with digital and entrepreneurial skills, support startups, and help businesses access technology opportunities. The organization reports that it has trained more than 25,000 talents, impacted over 20,000 businesses, and incubated more than 50 startups.
His contribution also extends beyond one organization.
In August 2023, 17 technology hubs and organizations in Abia came together to establish the Abia Technology and Innovation Network (ATIN), with Chinagozi serving as its board chairman. The network was created to strengthen collaboration among technology hubs, developers, designers, policymakers, academia, and other innovation stakeholders.
The initiative reflected his interest in building an ecosystem where organizations could combine their resources and experience rather than work independently.
Chinagozi has also been involved in youth employment and skills development initiatives. IGHub, for instance, has served as an implementing partner in the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta’s Youth Employment Pathways project, providing ICT training for young people in Abia. These activities provide a wider context for the birthday gathering. The people who attended were not only celebrating a personal milestone; many were part of the community and professional relationships developed through his work.
A Milestone Shared With the Community
The evening combined worship, celebration, and fellowship. Guests were treated to a generous spread of food and drinks, adding to the atmosphere of hospitality and shared celebration. For Chinagozi, turning 41 offered an opportunity to bring together people from his personal, professional, and faith communities.
His work across innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and technology partnerships has made him part of the wider effort to strengthen the South-East’s digital ecosystem. The birthday celebration provided a moment for that community to recognize the person behind some of those efforts. As he begins another year, the milestone also offers an opportunity to reflect on the work already done and the relationships that continue to shape technology development in the region.
